“Today I choose life. Every morning when I wake up I can choose joy, happiness, negativity, pain… To feel the freedom that comes from being able to continue to make mistakes and choices – today I choose to feel life, not to deny my humanity but embrace it.”
In this issue, resilience is explored in its many manifestations, whether it be through individual characteristics, processes, or the outcome of our lives. Life brings about challenges that reveal two types of skill sets in people- inherent [creativity, humility, courage, humour, tenacity and the ability to improvision] and acquired [education, accumulation of wealth, financial acumen, and mental fortitude].
Art for “Resilience” came in many forms: Painting, Digital Illustration, Short Film, Spoken Word, Performance, Photography, and Poetry. Artists shared their personal stories, and their capacity to make the best of themselves and their lives no matter what their circumstance.
This is part of them. This is Resilience.
